NBC Universal Media Lab

The NBC Universal Media Lab was a challenging gut remodel and addition in the heart of Universal Studios Orlando. The project involved the repurposing and joining of two themed buildings of an area called “The Garden of Allah Villas”—a replica of a storied 1920’s residential hotel and bungalows in West Hollywood.

The facility transformed an underutilized and partially abandoned structure into a highly technical and integrated media research lab. The lab tests and monitors new media content and interface devices in controlled focus group settings with or without moderation. Integrated systems enable facial expression/eye-tracking, button response, and biofeedback reactions from test participants and volunteers for monitoring.
