"The relationship that I have built with the architects from C.T. Hsu + Associates has been outstanding. I highly recommend them for any school related construction project because of their expertise, their patience and their willingness to attend to the special needs of processional educators. It has truly been a pleasure doing business with them."

Michael R. Blasewitz, Former Principal, Edgewater High School

Edgewater High School

Edgewater High School is one of Orlando’s oldest and most visible high school campuses. We master planned and designed a new state-of-the-art campus to replace the aging flagship one. Part of the plan included using a new urban design that reinterprets the large, often desolate courtyards prevalent among Florida schools today. The school’s open space is collapsed and turned vertically to form an internalized academic spine.

At the center of the spine is a three-story daylit atrium with three-story classroom wings organized along the axis and anchored by a gymnasium at one end and an administrative suite at the other. The school fronts the neighborhood’s main street with a new performing arts center and landscaped entry plaza. The compact parti pris optimized internal communication and supervision while maximizing exterior space for athletic facilities, parking, and on-campus community events.
