The First Academy (TFA) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last month to unveil its new Cramer Family Field House designed by C.T. Hsu + Associates. TFA is a Christ-centered college-preparatory school in southwest Orlando, Fla. serving more than 1,450 Central Florida students from Pre-K to 12th grade.

“TFA had very high expectations and wanted a one-of-a-kind Field House that would be not just a gymnasium, but a landmark of design and excellence,” said Jerry Chambers, TFA’s chief financial officer. “The result is amazing and we are thankful to have had C.T. Hsu + Associates ‘in our court.’”

The new 31,006 SF field house gymnasium supports more than 20 interscholastic sports at the varsity, junior varsity and middle school levels and was designed to serve as a focal point for the 22-acre campus. The facility features an NBA regulation-size competition court and two regulation-sized practice courts. It also includes a collegiate-style sports performance area with a strength and conditioning center and an athletic training center. In addition, it houses athletic offices, food and beverage concessions, and a retail store.

“The Cramer Family Field House is a wonderful facility,” added TFA Head of School Dr. Steve Whitaker. “We are thankful to everyone who made this facility not just a dream, but a reality, and look forward to seeing the impact this will have on young lives for years to come.”
