CTH+A earned top honors in two categories at the statewide Florida Educational Facilities Planners’ Association’s 2008 Architectural Showcase in January. The firm took first place in the high school category for the Boone High School Comprehensive Needs project, a $28 million master plan to revitalize the historic Orlando high school. The firm also took first place in the college/university category for its design of Valencia Community College’s 77,000 SF state-certified Criminal Justice Institute, the first building completed for the college’s 58-acre Public Safety campus for which CTH+A also provided master planning. The FEFPA entries were judged on a wide range of criteria including innovation, aesthetics and use of materials, flexibility for community use, technology provisions, the relationship of spaces and expandability, and site development. |

CTH+A completed the renovation and expansion of 40-year-old Sadler Elementary School in November. The $17.9 million comprehensive needs project doubled the size of the south Orange County school, adding 47,036 SF of new space and renovating 48,730 SF of existing space on the 15-acre campus. The project included a new administration building and self-contained Kindergarten classroom building as well as design solutions for the severely congested traffic situation at the school’s Oak Ridge Road entrance.
