Mini• Firm uses Design Ingenuity to
"MINI"Mize Hunger
CTH+A employees recently applied the principles of architecture to automotive design in an effort to feed the hungry by designing and building a full-sized red MINI Cooper using 4,108 cans of food.  The firm was among a dozen teams of architects, engineers, contractors and designers participating in the national CANstruction design/build competition sponsored by the Society of Design Administration and The American Institute of Architects.  The purpose of competition is to put a visual spotlight on hunger while showcasing Central Florida’s design community.  Participating teams must create structures built entirely of canned and packaged foods within an 8’x8’x8’ space.  Proceeds from the local competition benefited the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.  For its efforts, the firm won the “Car of the Year Award” at the competition’s awards reception on October 20.
