With more than 2.1 million square feet of exhibition space, the Orange County Convention Center is the second-largest facility of its kind in the U.S. It is owned and operated by Orange County government and brings more than 200 events and an estimated 1.5 million attendees to Central Florida each year.

C.T. Hsu + Associates was selected to design and oversee construction of a new entrance for the exhibition and convention hall that provided greater public access to and from existing parking areas. The 40,000 square foot West Entrance features:

	•	A spacious and multi-functional lobby area
	•	New escalators
	•	A grand staircase leading to bridges that connect to the main convention center building
	•	New pedestrian walkways
	•	Office space
	•	New sidewalks and canopy structures designed for bus and taxi loading and unloading

"The design accomplished what the Convention Center wanted and then some," said John Morris, project director, construction division for the Orange County Convention Center. "It created a new image for the West Entrance, which is a graceful symbol for the facility, while elegantly facilitating public movement in and out of the huge convention hall and greatly improving traffic flow to the West Entrance parking area."

The project earned CTH+A top honors from the AIA Orlando Chapter in 2004 with an Award for Design Excellence.
