Boone High School
We developed the comprehensive master plan to revitalize and re-energize Orlando’s historic Boone High School, originally built in 1952. The project used 25 acres of land acquired by the school board to expand the high school’s cramped campus and blend it with a new K-8 elementary school onto one 70 acre site.
The firm’s plan improved Boone’s classroom environment, capacity, accessibility, and security. Special design attention was given to the school’s main entrance to make it welcoming for students and visitors. Permanent new buildings replaced portable classrooms. New athletic facilities for both schools were placed close to a neighborhood park for shared use with the community.
Completed under budget, Boone High School’s principal called the new campus “a facility ready for the 21st century.” It also raised the bar for all future work in the school district’s multi-billion-dollar school building program and earned an Award of Honor for Design Excellence from the American Institute of Architecture Orlando Chapter.
