AIA ORLANDO PRESENTS C.T. HSU + ASSOCIATES WITH FIVE DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARDS
ORLANDO, Fla. (April 11, 2011) – The Orlando chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Orlando) presented C.T. Hsu + Associates with three Honor Awards and two Awards of Merit for the firm’s projects, at the 2011 Awards for Design Excellence Gala held on April 9 at the Country Club of Orlando.
Three projects received Honor Awards, including the Amway Center, Edgewater High School, and Valencia College’s University Center. The firm also received an Award of Merit in the sustainable design category for Valencia College’s University Center and an Award of Merit for Geico Garage which provides parking for the Amway Center.
Amway Center was jointly submitted by three architecture firms who worked on the project: Lead Design firm, Populous, and the two local Associate Architects, C.T. Hsu + Associates and Baker Barrios Architects, Inc.
The Edgewater High School project provided one of Orlando’s oldest high school campuses with a modern, livable and technologically-advanced design.
Valencia/UCF Building 11 joint use facility, also known as University Center, is located on Valencia’s West Campus. The building is a landmark project for both Valencia and UCF that emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability throughout, making it a living laboratory for students in all disciplines.
