JAMES HUGHES, AIA, AICP, APPOINTED TO 2011 COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY COMMITTEE

ORLANDO, Fla. (April 4, 2011) – C.T. Hsu + Associates, P.A. (CTH+A) firm Principal Jim Hughes, AIA, AICP, LEED AP, has been appointed to the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council’s (ECFRPC) 2011 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee. The committee is tasked with promoting regional economic development through public and private sector collaboration in order to be globally competitive in the 21st century. The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy outlines those industries that exist in the region, those economic sectors that are expanding or shrinking, and a list of vital projects needed to sustain and grow our global competitiveness.

Hughes has more than 30 years of experience in the development, master planning, design, and construction of public and private projects. Currently, he is the firm’s project leader for architecture and planning for Seminole State College’s Oviedo Campus 20-year master plan project. He served in the same capacity for the recently completed $187 million Orlando International Airport Airside 1 and 3 expansion, rehabilitation and hurricane restoration project.

“As a senior leader in the firm and architect and planner in the Central Florida area, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Committee and CEDS efforts in helping to re-vitalize the local economy,” Hughes said.

Hughes received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his bachelor’s degree in Architecture with a minor in Urban Planning from North Dakota State University at Fargo, North Dakota.

According to www.ecfrpc.org, the ECFRPC is tasked with “making sure that the six county region of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia Counties, grow and develop in a sustainable and suitable way so that our outlook for the future can be brighter and greener.”
