C.T. HSU + ASSOCIATES COMPLETES PHASE I OF EDGEWATER HIGH SCHOOL COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS PROJECT

ORLANDO, Fla. (January 10, 2011) – Phase I of Edgewater High School (EHS) Comprehensive Needs Project to provide planning, design replacement, remodeling and renovation opened for classes on January 3, 2011 as students were jubilantly led into their new facility to the early morning beat of the Marching Eagles Band.  EHS, one of the Orange County's two oldest high schools, now ranks amongst the most technologically advanced campuses in the country.

Technology features include Wi-Fi, sensor activated lighting controls, video surveillance and centrally controlled HVAC. The auditorium incorporates an LED based theatre lighting system which integrates the first use of the new OCPS standards. All classrooms are fitted with computer controlled interactive smartboards and digital projectors as well as an audio enhancement system for improved learning. The Engineering, Science & Technology Magnet spaces are fully prepared to support instruction in subjects ranging from web design and animation to computer aided design and engineering technology / testing.

The current effort focused on new construction of classroom buildings, all new core facilities including the gym, auditorium, music suite, and the school’s multi-story student commons. Later in 2011, the final construction phase will include remodeling of several existing buildings, athletic fields, site work, and the demolition of obsolete buildings. The CTH+A prototype design ultimately provides EHS with state-of-the-art modern facilities that exceed the District’s high standards while coming in well under budget.

"We are very proud to have worked closely with OCPS and the College Park Community to realize their vision.  The Edgewater Eagles can soar to their future." said C.T. Hsu, FAIA, President of C.T. Hsu + Associates.
